Town Hall Meeting

with pizza

When: 3:30 -- 5:00 pm
Where: Room FH560L

Message from fellow student Gabriel Holiway:

Hello to my fellow computer science and information technology undergraduates:

I am the new student member on the Computer Science Committee for the undergraduate degree program, the FIRST time a student is a voting member of this committee. My role on the committee is to be the voice of the entire CS student body concerning issues of change for the improvement of the CS degree program. However, I have to hear from you -- as many as possible -- in order to speak to what you would like to see improved in the department. Those improvements can span from ideas about different text books for particular subject matter to more fun, but relevant, courses offering material that you strongly believe will be beneficial toward the building of your value in the world beyond this campus.

I have heard complaints about certain courses not being offered and material not being covered that's involved in the career you want to pursue. When you care about something -- namely your education -- of course you will point out areas that need strengthening and improvement. Well, this is your opportunity to be proactive in helping bring about that improvement. If you are a CS or IT degree seeking student: Come to the Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, April 30, from 3:30 -- 5:00 pm in room FH560L, where the CS/IT committee can inform you of the strides that are already being made towards the betterment of the degree program. I will have the chance to speak with several fellow students of the CS and IT degree programs and to gather serious, well contemplated ideas and suggestions that will be brought before the committee for further consideration. Again, this is an awesome chance to bring your ideas to the foregrounds to be officially heard. To contact me before or after the Town Hall meeting with any questions/suggestions, you can reach me at gh5y7@umkc.edu.

Thanks!

Gabriel Holiway
