UMKC-ACM is the University of Missouri Kansas City's chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Founded in 1947 ACM promotes research and education in computer technology. They have over 36 different special interest groups in a variety of computer related disciplines. ACM and its special interest groups sponsor a variety of conferences as well as publish more than 30 journals and magazines. For more information see the international ACM web site.

Mission

Overall, we share the same goal as the national organization: to advance the arts, sciences, and applications of information technology. Locally however, and more immediately, our mission is to significantly boost enrollment in our chapter and further the appreciation of computing at UMKC.

Instructor at the School of Computers and Engineering, Mr. Hare was appointed as adviser to the organization as of the fall 2006 semester.

Arthur Pemberton

Student and Linux geek, Mr. Pemberton is one of few Caribbean students at UMKC. He was elected to his current position at the first meeting of the UMKC-ACM to his current position. His personal website can be found at www.pembo13.com.

Student and salsa instructor, Mr. Ivan Markov was appointed to the combined position of ACM secretary and treasurer. School

The University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) is home to our chapter of the ACM. The is tucked into the mid town area of Kansas City, and is host to a vibrant and diverse student body. UMKC has a strong computer and engineering program and has a well connected campus.
